The 3rd of a C chord is E, and the 5th of a C chord is G. To find these notes on the ukulele, simply place your fingers on the 3rd and 5th frets of the 4th string. Now that you have the root and the 3rd and 5th of the chord, you can find the 7th, 9th, 11th, and 13th by counting up two frets at a time from the root. For example, the 7th of a C chord is B, and the 9th of a C chord is D. You can now play most basic guitar chords on the ukulele by simply finding the root note on the 4th string and fretting the 3rd and 5th. To make the chords sound more like their guitar counterparts, you can add in the 7th, 9th, 11th, and 13th by counting up from the root note in twos.
