The Academy of Ancient Music

Since its inception in 1973, the Academy of Ancient Music has been at the forefront of the early music movement. The orchestra's performances on CD of Mozart's La clemenza di Tito and of Mozart's symphonies, especially, have been singled out as groundbreaking achievements. Now the AAM is collaborating with fortepianist Robert Levin on new recordings of all of Mozart's piano concertos. This site provides background information on the orchestra and founder Christopher Hogwood, news about new and ongoing projects, concert schedules and articles written by contributors. Well worth a look.

Though this orchestra specializes in the music of the Baroque period, it also has released excellent recordings of Mozart's music, including Die Entfuhrüng aus dem Serail (K. 384) and the Requiem (K. 626).
